This makes me nervous

Grandpa and Theo

I will admit I have mother bear syndrome. I flinch at any noise while jogging, worried that a killer dog or squirrel will jump out of nowhere to harm my son. I grimace and squirm at someone who covers Theo's face with kisses, needing to protecting him from microscopic harm. (Air kisses people, it's freaking cold and flu season!) I constantly imagine horrific ways he could fall on the ground. And after almost four months, I still check to see if he is breathing at times. (I recently realized Jon was not going to stop breathing in the middle of the night. I've checked enough to know this.)

I felt a little better about myself when I saw a dad in a parking lot with his young son on his shoulders, and not too far behind was the mother, with a hand hovering about two inches from the little boy's back. Mother bears unite!

Just wait till Grandpa starts balancing them on the palm of one hand when they can't even walk yet! Yeah that freaked me out a little bit!

haha You sound like my sister. I know I will be exactly the same way. We can't help ourselves right? And people other than you and Jon kissing his face is the worst thing ever.

Whenever I would go downtown with Spencer I used to imagine ways I would defend ourselves against an attacker. Seriously, I would freak myself out and stare down anyone walking past us who looked remotely sketchy. I'm still protective, I just don't imagine myself killing people anymore....improvement I say.

So, I totally read your blog. Hope that's not weird. I just have to say that I'm this same way with children I don't even know...I can't even imagine what that means I'll be like when I have kids of my own....

I'm a psycho mama bear especially in protecting them from noise that could wake them during naps. I've been guilty (many times) of running outside flapping my arms wildly to scare away crows or Sand Cranes that squawk too close to their windows. I've also been known to hush anyone and everyone who might wake my sleeping cub! Unite we will!

sorry--'pa's "balancing on the palm of the hand" thing happened this past weekend. Theo is fine, though, and it didn't seem to bother him. I was too busy watching him to look at your face!
